This started out as regular(ish) Sunny and Jeanne and turned into late 19th AU kind of thing. I have no idea why except I blame Richard Armitage and North & South.

this pleases me
negacrow asked you: I think the world needs more of hobbit!Jeanne and dorf!Sunny. *sagenod*
a hobbit with ambitions
and a dwarf who is 100% done with hearing about it
ugh god help me i’m having baby amell feelings
like how in sibling circle verse she pretty much takes on a mom role despite only being a year older than him
and as they get older daylen becomes more jaded and jeanne acts out so their roles kind of switch
except when daylen does something dangerous or makes a big decision without consulting her and they end up fighting about it
and he says something akin to YOU HARDLY EVER ACT YOUR AGE or YOU AREN’T MY MOTHER, STOP ACTING LIKE IT
she just gets this look on her face that scares him because it makes her look years older, aeons older, so tired and just as jaded as he is or even moreso, what she hides with all her teasing and vulgarity
and tells him well i’m sorry to disappoint but i’m about as close as you’re going to get to one
and it hurts him and it hurts her and oh my god THEY HAVE THE MOST EXTREME HIGHS AND LOWS why my heart

Crop of a sketch I randomly started tonight. Which cuts out Day’s delicious shoulders if I do say so myself.
#big sis needs to work on her innocent face
LIES AND SLANDER
no but really this is super cute and i can’t wait to see more <3333
“Daylen—”
“How dare they! What, they think just because we’re mages we’re going to bend to every little whim they try to put on us?”
“Daylen, stop—”
“He’s just lucky all I did was break his nose—I swear, if he so much at looks at you again—”
“SUNNY!”
Daylen finally slouched a bit, his jaw locked while he breathed harshly through his teeth. They probably made for a comedic pair just then - the sixteen year old boy, tall enough to tower over even the hardiest of guards, and his older sister, her arms clutched tight across his chest while her feet kicked uselessly at the back of his calves.
“It isn’t fair,” he muttered, bending down just enough to let her back down on the ground. “What they do to us. To you.”
“I never said it was.” Jeanne kept him in her embrace, hopping up until her arms wrapped around his neck instead - she couldn’t even make her fingers touch when she held him otherwise, not anymore. “But you have to be more careful…they take any excuse to make an example, you know that.”
He was silent for a moment or two, then dipped his head forward and closed his eyes.
“I wish we were home.”
She didn’t respond for a little while, her hands grasping into weak fists at the collar of his robes, but finally she gave a tired little laugh and kissed his cheek.
“For all intents and purposes,” she sighed, brushing his hair from his face until he looked at her, “we are home.”
(This isn’t even remotely close to done but I am super impatient and I must post the WIP. And also the huge-ass explanation I wrote ; ; )
So as most people know, I’ve been spending a while playing SWTOR. For giggles, I decided to make Jeanne in it—as a Sith Inquisitor. Two reasons:
One, Jeanne as a Sith is both hilarious and almost a little fitting;
and two, Xanthe Elbrick, who voices the female SI, is the closest voice match to Jeanne I’ve ever heard. Especially her snarky lines. (This is a really good example!)
Instead of trying to go specifically light or dark, I kind of just choose the options that fit what she might do in each situation—and thus far, she’s riding the neutral line pretty hard. She’s gotten maybe halfway to either a Light or a Dark tier before going back the other way. Interesting to observe, but man, this game really really wants you to pick a side. I can’t wait until the Neutral gear comes out ; ;
She’s specced as a Sorcerer, which is the healing/damage option, except all of her points are in Lightning because of course they are. I thought about Daylen in the Star Wars sense as well—and, after talking with Amy, figured he would probably be a Jedi Consular—a healing Sage, to be specific. Except he probably prefers to dress like a Knight, because pants.
There’s a bit of a twist in the Inquisitor storyline on Dromund Kaas that pretty much killed me, if only because it fits too perfectly into their family dynamic. So now my mind’s gone wild with AU and overarching stories and asdfghjkl I need to play through more of this.
Also, one more bit that I thought was funny: one of the very first missions for an Inquisitor is to “persuade” (shock the everloving shit out of, or negotiate with) an acolyte to give you information about a death at the Sith Academy. That acolyte is voiced by Greg Ellis, i.e. Cullen.
Now…BioWare has a lot of its favourite voice actors in this game. Jo Wyatt and Adam Howden are everywhere in the Empire, Brian Bloom does a few for the Republic, Gideon Emery’s here and there all over the place, etc. But not once have I seen anyone else voiced by Greg Ellis. Just that specific NPC, for that specific mission. I’m half-convinced they did it just to fuck with me
In the meantime, enjoy this sketchdump from the past…week…or so?
Pretty much all of these are within the Fugitive Trail timeline, which belongs to the ever-wonderful Amy.
negacrow:
Jeanne… Jeanne, what are you doing to your brother’s face?
Keeping it limber! How else is he going to do anything but frown if his face gets stuck that way?
